The Taroona* Gardening Forum meets on the first Wednesday evening of each month, January excepted, at 7.30 pm in the Uniting Church Hall, Taroona Crescent, Taroona. A reminder of the meeting is usually to be found in the Mercury Newspaper Community Diary on the day of the meeting.

The Forum meets in an extremely friendly and informal manner to exchange information and ideas related to gardening and plants, both ornamental and edible. Membership ranges from the expert to the novice.

Plants, seeds, cuttings and garden produce are brought to the regular meetings. These are then sold at a very nominal cost with the proceeds going to help meet expenses such as the hire of the hall.

Gardeners of all interests persuasions and talents are most welcome to come along and find out more about the Forum without there being any pressure put to bear on them to join.

An integral part of the Forum's activities is to undertake regular field trips to gardens and farms throughout Tasmania, including member's own gardens. These outings allow members to get to know each other in relaxing, and beautiful, surroundings. Such outings also introduce members to other gardeners around the State

Speakers are frequently arranged to address our regular monthly evening meetings.

A simple monthly newsletter outlining the agenda for the next meeting, including an update of forthcoming field trips, which are usually programmed to take place in the warmer months, together with a brief recap of the previous months highlights is distributed to members via e-mail, letter box drop within Taroona or snail mail beyond Taroona.

The Forum normally organises two social events a year; one in July and the other in December.

Subscriptions are minimal and are levied solely to meet simple administrative expenses.
